If only life could stop and I could focus all my attention on preparing for this next adventure. Alas, life continues and this next adventure is less than 2 weeks away. I am prepared..with tickets and bookings, gear piled up on the floor, and an itinerary. But am I ready? Probably not. No amount of research, advice, and pouring over maps will ever leave me feeling completely ready for what I am about to do.
I like this part, the moments before the adventure is set to begin. There is still enough time to search for "one more thing" that may be needed. It happens every time, an item is identified and my brain tells me it is important, crucial in fact. Interestingly, this oh-so-important item never appeared on any of my 15 lists, and usually isn't even something I own. It is part of my pre-trip experience I suppose. As are the feelings of anticipation, anxiety, fear, excitement, and curiosity which pull my thoughts in a thousand directions.
